The results are in. Google’s “Search Plus Your World” feature will be emerging over the next couple days. This format will be the most substantial change Google has ever made to their search results. Google continues to evolve search capabilities for public, personalized, social and private content.
In 2005, Google began including personalized content in search results, but only for people that opted-in. Then in 2009, Google took another step towards more complete search results by including social content. This content stems from people you know, not your personal behavior. Originally, personalized and social search results were listed separately, but in 2011 they merged to provide one all-encompassing result feed.
The Search Plus Your World takes the all-encompassing result feed one step further by including private content. Now before you write Google a threatening email, the private content search results are only shared with you, not the world. Private content is pulled from the Google+ social network and includes wall posts, photos, profiles and any other materials that you or friends from your Google+ network have shared. In a basic explanation, ‘private content’ is truly content that you have shared through your Google+ account and is now being incorporated into your search results and the search results of your Google+ friends.
